Also known as, "Ocean Stone", this beauty was only discovered in 1914 in the Dominican Republic & was only mined for about a decade during the 1970's but sadly, mined out, in the '80s. According to Scientists, this Blue Pectolite formation was a geological anomaly - specific to this ONE geographical location & there will never be any more.
The sweetest part to this story is that the gentleman whose land it was on, was allowed to name the stone. So, he named it after his daughter, "Larisa" & the ocean, "Mar" in Spanish - that's why it's called Larimar. <3
