Larimar is a rare blue variety of the silicate mineral pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic, in the Caribbean. Its coloration varies from white, light blue, and green-blue to deep blue. Only discovered in 1914 and only mined for about 10 years, in the '70s, this precious blue was mined out in the '80s and scientists say, there'll never be any more. - Cool right? Legend has it, that it was named after the land owner's daughter: Larissa + the ocean - 'Mar', in Spanish. Isn't that sweet?!
